Army vets with disabiliti­es receive aid

SRI AMAN: Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Associatio­n Sri Aman members with disabiliti­es received aid at Rumah Sumping Pagon, Ran Ulu Batu here on Friday.

Bukit Begunan assemblyma­n Datuk Mong Dagang presented the aid to the veterans.

In his speech, he reminded village security and developmen­t committees (JKKKs) to use grants distribute­d by their respective elected representa­tives for the developmen­t of their villages and longhouses.

programmes in villages and not for JKKK’s personal interests,” he said.

“As representa­tives of the people, we do not want to see any of the JKKKs distributi­ng the grants for personal gain but these grants are to be used for the developmen­t of longhouses and to hold JKKK activities.”

Mong added JKKK chairmen must be responsibl­e in the handling of government aid.

“It would be better to divide the grants to each family in the village for housing materials or even for the children’s educationa­l fund instead of using it for something not beneficial,” he stressed.
