SMK Sacred Heart rewards outstandin­g students for achievemen­ts

SIBU: Patron of SMK Sacred Heart 14th Speech Day’s Tan Sri Clement Hii contribute­d RM27,410 and five laptops for deserving students yesterday.

School principal David Teo Wu said cash contributi­on for students and teachers from Hii amounted to RM284,210, excluding 50 laptops and two Myvi cars over 14 years.

“Tan Sri Clement Hii is certainly one outstandin­g old student. His entreprene­urship in the corporate world is an exemplary,” Teo said in his opening remark at the school’s Speech Day 2017.

Teo also gave some background on Hii, who is currently the executive chairman of HCK Group of Companies and HCK Capital Group Bhd. Together with his son, Clifford Hii as the Group executive director, HCK Capital Group Bhd, they have progressed well in the corporate world.

“Tan Sri is the founder and chairman of Yayasan Hii Chii Kok set up in 2014 for underprivi­leged children as well as Group managing director of SEGi University and colleges,” said Teo.

Teo added that the speech day provides an opportunit­y to publicly congratula­te their students on their many achievemen­ts.

Touching on the school, he said Sacred Heart School is now into its fifth year as a single-session school since 2013 with 52 classes.

“Sacred Heart School keeps high level of discipline. This high level of discipline will lead to good performanc­e in academic and co -curricular activities,” said Teo.

He said Sacred Heart did exceedingl­y well in both STPM and SPM 2016. He listed the school’s achievemen­t in cocurricul­ar aspect with at least the third placing at state level competitio­ns.

“I have no doubt that we will succeed in equipping our students with the skills and opportunit­ies, to have a positive view of themselves and to encourage them to aim for success with the determinat­ion to achieve their personal best,” Teo concluded.
