294 SMK St Anthony Form 5 and Upper 6 students receive scrolls

SARIKEI: Two hundred and ninety-four Form 5 and Upper 6 students of SMK St Anthony received their scrolls at the school’s fifth Graduation cum 32 Anthonian Excellent Award presentati­on ceremony yesterday.

The graduates comprised 102 Form 5 Science; 169 Form 5 Arts and 23 Upper 6 Science streams.

School principal Vincent Liong reminded the outgoing students that graduation marks their successful completion of secondary school education.

“Your journey in pursuit of excellence in education does not end here as after your SPM or STPM you have many more years to pursue tertiary education,” Liong said.

He advised the students to put in extra efforts to excel in the coming SPM and STPM to enter institutio­ns of higher learning (IPTs).

He advised those who had done well in the semester examinatio­ns not to be complacent but strive to improve.

Repok Assemblyma­n Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii presented the awards to outstandin­g students in academic and co-curricular activities.

Excellent Students for the Girls’ and Boys’ categories were Peggy Lu Shuet Fong and Wong Khoon Seng respective­ly while the Young Leadership Award for the girl’s category went to Ying Sii Mei and the boy’s category to Roderick Lau.

Sand Lau Juing Yueng and Lee Hock Xiang were winners of the Co-curriculum and Sports Award for the Girls’ and Boys’ categories respective­ly while Vivian Teng and Victor Yii won the Girls’ and Boys’ Holistic Awards.

Huang also handed over a contributi­on of RM10,000 for the school’s Parent-Teacher Associatio­n (PTA) to organise programmes to benefit students.

Among those present were Deputy District Education Officer Faustino Frederick Emperan, School Management Board chairman Rev Father James Ting, PTA chairperso­n Maureen Chua and Ex-Students Associatio­n chairman Nicholas Wong Bak Ngie.
