He hoped that this night market would assist local Sibu Jaya residents to improve their socio-economic income as stated in Local Council Local Key Result Areas or LKRAs.

He took the opportunity to thank Deputy Chairman Cr. Robert Lau and Council Engineer Daniel Goh Thiam Ho for their passion in making Sibu Jaya night market a reality.

“My credit must also go to Ministry of Local Government and Housing under Datuk Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian for his support of this project,” he added.

Sempurai said that Sibu Jaya night market would become a benchmark in terms of layout, colour and lighting, not forgetting the numerous products the night market has to offer.

Sibu Jaya night market has 102 lots, of which 98 lots are already occupied.

He urged the people of Sibu Jaya and Sibu town to patronise the night market.
