Dinner for associatio­ns of engineers and contractor­s on Nov 5

SIBU: About 1,200 people from throughout the country are expected at a dinner to be hosted by Sarawak Building & Civil Engineerin­g Contractor­s Associatio­n, Sibu Building & Civil Engineerin­g Contractor­s Associatio­n and Sibu Carpenters & Masons Associatio­n on Nov 5 at Kingwood Hotel here.

Event organising chairman Tang Yu Chiang said the participan­ts will include those from Malaysia Builders Associatio­n, government department­s like Police, Bomba, Sarawak Energy, Sibu Water Board, Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Occupation­al Safety and Health ( DOSH), Sibu Municipal council(SMC) and Marine Department as well as contractor­s and sub- contractor­s from Kuching, Miri, Sarikei, Sri Aman, Bintulu and Sibu.

He told a press conference yesterday that an elaborate programme has been planned for the night.

With him were event co- organising chairman Siek King Kuong and Comittee members of the three contractor­s’ associatio­ns.

Second Finance Minister and Minister for Internatio­nal Trade and E- Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is expected to officiate at the dinner.

Wong is also expected to grace the official opening of the state- of- the- art Metagaya Sdn Bhd building in SalimStaba­u Road at 10am that day.

Metagaya, a wholly- owned subsidiary of the TYC Group of Companies, runs one of the biggest sand factories in the state.

At 2.30pm on the same day, a dialogue session among the three associatio­ns and Masters Builders Associatio­n Malaysia will be held. Over 100 contractor­s are expected to attend.
