Wong bemused by rumours of his affair
KUCHING: Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is amazed at how fast people can manipulate a photo and turn it into a scandal rumour to smear his reputation.
“The photo must have been circulated very wide because I am getting a lot of phone calls over the allegation,” he told The Borneo Post.
According to Wong, he was invited to a dinner to grace visitors from Alibaba Group and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn Bhd ( MDEC) for a Digital Conference.
A lady lecturer of Kolej Laila Taib who happened to be the emcee for the night sat very close to him because she wanted to brief the minister of the programme for the night.
“I came early for the dinner and she sat right next to me, very close to me because she wants to brief me on the programme. Somebody from outside took the photograph of that moment very quickly and spread the rumour,” he said.
Wong said the cyber bullying is very unfair to the young lady whom the rumour monger had accused as immoral when she is a very qualified academician who got her PhD recently.
He said the photograph of the guests at the dinner was available to prove that the lady was a victim of cyber bullying by being accused of being his girlfriend by the people who posted the photo online.
