Tahfiz Al-Quran students in state to gather at Darul Hana Mosque

KUCHING: Tahfiz Al- Quran students in the state will, for the first time, gather in a ceremony to be held at Darul Hana Mosque at Jalan Tun Salahuddin on Nov 18.

The 1,000 Huffaz Assembly will be realised as the result of cooperatio­n between the Associatio­n of Sarawak Tahfiz Institutio­ns ( Pinta) and the State Government through the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).

The gathering is one of the efforts to empower tahfi z institutio­ns in the state, as well as strengthen institutio­nal links with the state government, a statement from the organisers said.

Through this programme, tahfiz students have the opportunit­y to mingle with state leaders and hear their messages.

The programme starts with the 30 Juzuk Al- Quran Council which will be held after asar fardhu prayers.

Tahfi z students will be divided into 10 groups with each group to read three Juzuk Al Quran.

People are welcome to participat­e in the reading and they will be included in each participat­ing group.

They are also encouraged to bring their own Quranic texts, and those with old and unused Al-Quran can hand them over to the Programme Secretaria­t for the purpose of conservati­on and disposal in a Shariah-compliant way.

Religious lectures titled ‘ The Benefits of the Quran’ will be held shortly after the recital of maghrib fardhu prayers by invited speakers.

Expected to attend this gathering are 1,650 people including tahfi z students from throughout the state and religious schools such as Malaysian Islamic Skills Institute, Sarawak ( Ikmas).

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will officiate at the inaugurati­on of the ceremony.

The public are invited to attend the ceremony and are encouraged to dress in white attire.
