Workshop on diets, lifestyles and medication for diabetics to be held on Nov 25
MIRI: Columbia Asia Hospital ( CAH) Miri is organising a diabetes workshop for the public at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri on Nov 25 in conjunction with the diabetes awareness month of November.
According to the hospital’s marketing executive Goh Teck Nei, the half- day workshop is to give awareness and educate diabetics on healthy diets and lifestyles besides understanding about their medication.
“Topic sharing will be in English by our hospital doctor, diabetes educator nurse, and healthcare nutritionist from pharmaceutical companies,” she said yesterday.
Among the topics are ‘Diabetes and Preventive Measures’ by CAH officer Dr Seena Marthankandy Kalluvalappil; ‘Diet and Lifestyle’ by Yvonne Lau from Nestle Health Science; ‘ Insulin and Dose Optimisation’ and ‘ Selfmonitoring blood Glucose’ both by Stephanie Kung from Sanofi.
Participants will also get their blood sugar levels checked and provided with healthy breakfast and lunch.
The target group is diabetic patients on insulin or oral medication or diagnosed as prediabetic.
Admission to the workshop is free but registration is required as seats are limited to 60pax.
