Specialist­s to conduct public health talk on heart attack, back pain management on Nov 11

MIRI: A public health talk on heart attack and back pain management by two specialist­s from Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu Hospital (GKKH) will be held here this coming Saturday.

The event, organised by Miri Hing Ann Associatio­n and Miri City Medical Centre ( MCMC) in collaborat­ion with GKKH, is from 12 noon to 5pm at Meritz Hotel.

“This talk is aimed to help the public better understand heart attacks, the symptoms and management, as well as back-pain management,” Miri Hing Ann Associatio­n president Datuk David Goh disclosed in a press conference here recently.

Cardiothor­acic surgeon Dr Abu Bakar Mamat will be presenting a talk titled ‘Heart Attack: What We Should Know’, while neurosurge­on, pain management and endoscopic spine specialist Dr Tan Wei Chean’s topic is titled ‘Lower Back Pain: Are You Getting the Best Treatment?’.

Admission is free and attendees will receive a goody bag from Gleneagles. Refreshmen­ts will also be provided.

Meanwhile, MCMC will provide free general health screening during the talk. Attendees also stand to win health screening packages from Gleneagles through a quiz session.
