Food extravaganza at Sibu Town Square from Dec 15 to 31
SIBU: Another food extravaganza is in store for Sibu people with a food festival to be staged at Sibu Town Square Phase II from Dec 15 to 31.
Sibu Division Hawkers Association (SDHA) is organising the event which will see 100 food stalls and 60 trade stalls.
Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) secretary Kapitan Ling Swee Hing told a press conference on Tuesday that the festival to open from 5pm to 11pm will promote local food.
SDHA has four affi liates namely Sibu Hawker Welfare Association, Sibu Central Market Hawkers Association, United Hawkers of Sibu Division and Meradong District Association Sarawak, and Sibu Small Shop Owners Association.
The event is held in conjunction with Visit Sibu Year ( VSY) 2017.
“There will be stage performances throughout the event,” Ling pointed out.

Present at the press conference were chairman of Sibu Hawker Welfare Association Captain Tan Hong Kiong, Sibu Central Market Hawkers Association chairperson Tiong Hea Kwong, advisor Yiing Chung Ming, United Hawkers of Sibu Division and Meradong District Association Sarawak chairman Chiong Siong Nguong and secretary Ting Chuong Chiok, and chairman of Sibu Small Shop Owners Association chairman Tiong Tai Hung.
