World Diabetes Day to be celebrated with 3-day event
MIRI: Diabetes Malaysia Miri Branch will be holding a three-day event from Nov 17 at Bintang Mega Mall here to educate and increase public awareness of diabetes and its risks.
According to its secretary Teo Kee Hoe, the event organised in conjunction with World Diabetes Day which falls on Nov 14, shall provide sufficient information to educate the public and to increase their awareness of diabetes and its risks.
Booths for free health screening will be open to the public on Nov 18 from 10am to 5pm, to check blood sugar levels, blood pressure and Body Mass Index ( BMI).
There will be also be a children’s colouring contest – Group A for children between seven to nine years old and Group B for those aged 10 to 12 years old. The contest is limited to 25 participants for each category.
Those interested are urged to register before the closing date on Nov 10.
“Apart from that, there will be singing and dancing performances by local renowned singers and dancers.
“Songstress Howe Jun Fai and Boon Wai Wai will be performing and on hand to meet their fans on Nov 17 and 18 from 8pm,” Teo said in a press statement recently.
