SIBU: Rugby players from the central zone are all pumped up for a breakthrough in the upcoming Sukan Sarawak ( Suksar) 7-a- side tournament for Under-19 to be held in Kuching from Dec 14-17.

Chief coach Michael Ting admitted it will be a big challenge to beat the boys from the southern zone.

“But with commitment and determination, I have faith in my players that they may be able to spring some surprises,” he said.

In the recent Brother Columba Memorial Cup Sevens held in Kuching, Wolfpack A from Kuching beat Sibu’s Saint Development A 12- 7 to lift the title.

The players forming the southern and central zones for Sukan Sarawak are basically the same batch of players from Wol fpack A and Saints Development A respectively.

Ting revealed that his team has been working hard on their weaknesses in stamina and passing rythmn evident in that match.

The players are current ly training at Sacred Heart School rugby field under the watchful eyes of himself and his assistant Fijian Iowane Sovatabua.

“This is the first time that Sukan Sarawak is staged and we hope to make a deep impression and win something for the central zone.”

Teams from all four zones will take part in the tournament aimed at picking players to represent Sarawak in the 2018 Sukma.
