SCCCI delegation to meet Awang Tengah on Sibu’s third industrial zone

KUCHING: Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) will meet with Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan today on the implementa­tion of the third industrial zone project in Sibu.

SCCCI president Dr Hii Sui Cheng said the courtesy visit to Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of Industrial and Entreprene­ur Developmen­t as well as Second Minister of Urban Developmen­t and Natural Resources, is part of the chamber’s programme for its second trade mission this year.

The two- day mission, which ends today, involves a 32 memberstro­ng SCCCI delegation led by Hii.

“We will meet Datuk Amar Awang Tengah to get updated on the implementa­tion of the third industrial zone project in Sibu. Many small and medium entreprenu­ers in Sibu are excited about the new project,” said Hii.

The group yesterday visited CCK Farm in Bau, Samajaya Industrial Park, LONGi ( Kuching) Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre ( MaGIC).

“We visited MaGIC to have an understand­ing on how to groom young people to join e-trading and be part of the digital economy developmen­t.

“Alibaba is the giant in ecommerce and we would like to groom young entreprene­urs in Sibu to get involved in e-trading,” he said.

Hii added the delegation also made a stop to Kuching City Mall to see the progressio­n of the constructi­on project as well as eight shop lots belonging to SCCCI.

Chamber members also met Kuching Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry to exchange ideas and strengthen the ties with their counterpar­ts.
