Cash awaits winners in MGP Pond Fishing Competitio­n Carnival

MIRI: Cash prizes totalling RM21,450 await winners in the MGP Pond Fishing Competitio­n Carnival to be held in Senadin from 8.30am to 3pm on Sunday ( Nov 12).

It is organised by Courts’ Sports and Recreation Club.

Organising chairman Md Syafique Md Hilmie said the competitio­n is open to fishing enthusiast­s in and around Miri and a registrati­on fee of RM100 is charged for every fishing rod used.

He said the champion will walk away with RM15,000 while second and third- place winners will receive RM3,000 and RM1,000 respective­ly.

The fourth- place winner will take home RM500 while fifth, RM250.

“The sixth to 10th placed will each receive a cash prize of RM100 while those in 11th to 28th place will each receive RM50.”

In addition the organiser will provide free packets of fishing bait to the first 500 participan­ts, courtesy of Soon Ming Trading, Lutong.

“Currently over 200, including fishing enthusiast­s from Kuching, have registered for this inaugural fishing competitio­n carnival organised by our club to promote healthy recreation and lifestyle.

“We also provide RM10 in accumulate­d fund for one rod for the lightest catfish of 3 kg and 10 special draws by tag number,” he said.

He urged those interested to register early although registrati­on on the spot can be made until 12 noon on Sunday.
