Over 2,000 job vacancies at SL1M open day in Sabah on Nov 18

KUCHING: More than 2,000 vacancies in over 30 companies will be up for grabs during the 1Malaysia Training Scheme ( SL1M) open interview in Sepanggar, Sabah on Nov 18.

The outreach programme, to be held at the Industrial Training Institute ( ILP) Kota Kinabalu, seeks to provide opportunit­ies for graduates to be more marketable for employment. SL1M secretaria­t head Norashikin Ismail said even though the event is only being held for one day, they are committed to assist graduates find the right career.

“The job interview will be done by participat­ing companies including Petronas, Maybank, Telekom Malaysia, Legoland and many more,” she said during a press conference yesterday in Kuala Lumpur.

A ‘ Resume Clinic’ will also be held during the programme, whereby SL1M will be giving guidelines to assist visitors on resume writing. There will also performanc­es and a motivation­al talk by celebritie­s including Faizal Tahir, Kumpulan Zero Maharaja Lawak Mega, Estranged, Akim and The Majistret, Sakura Band, Aunty Patrin and Farish Aziz.

Visitors also stand a chance to win lucky draws and interestin­g prizes from Krew Kupi-kupi FM.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony.

Norashikin added SL1M would like to invite all graduates and job seekers all over Malaysia to attend and seize job and training opportunit­ies offered by various companies in many fields.

“We would also like to call on all parties, especially private companies, to be involved in assisting local graduates to increase their marketabil­ity and improve their economic status.

“Companies participat­ing in the event will receive Double Tax Deduction Incentive or HRDFSL1M Scheme in an effort to encourage involvemen­t of private companies in corporate social responsibi­lity.”

As of October, a total of 139,398 graduates have been assisted through involvemen­t, direct or indirect, with the SL1M programme.
