Teams from Peninsular M’sia dominate Kidurong futsal

BINTULU: The7thBipo­rt Bulkers Sdn Bhd (BBSB) futsal tournament at Kidurong Club this year was dominated by three top teams from Peninsular Malaysia.

The SS Five from Johor emerged champions and they received RM7,500 cash, a trophy and medals.

Second place went to FC Wildcat from Kuala Lumpur who walked home with RM4,500 cash, a trophy and medals.

Third place won by Dani FC from Kuala Lumpur while fourth place went to Neo Nexus from Kuching.

Third and fourth place winners received RM3,000 and RM1,500 respective­ly with a trophy and medals each.

The prize giving ceremony was officiated by BBSB chief operation off icer Shamsuddin Ismai l , who is the patron of this year’s tournament.

A total of 40 teams from throughout the country including four teams from Peninsular Malaysia took par t in the tournament.

BBSB in a statement yesterday said the tournament was part of its corporate social responsibi­lity act ivit ies in l ine with the government’s call to encourage healthy activities for the youths.

The tournament was introduced in 2011 with the local participat­ing teams but after that year, it has received an encouragin­g response from teams outside Bintulu which later attracted entries from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.

Also present at the prize giving ceremony were the tournament advisor Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Kadir who is the BBSB operation manager and organising chairman Mohamad Serkawi Kassim.
