Gerakan pledges to give its best in GE14

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan is all set to do battle in its constituencies in the 14th general election (GE14) and to give its best efforts for Malaysians.

Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong called on party members to work harder and move with the times as their struggle is still not over.

“I promise, we (Gerakan) will deliver a better performance in GE14 for Malaysians and the nation. With the spirit shown today, I am confident our members are fired up for the battle,” he said in his policy speech at the party’s 46th National Delegates Conference here yesterday.

Gerakan now has two seats in the Dewan Rakyat and three state seats after suffering major setbacks in GE12 and GE13.

Taking the victory of the Teluk Intan by- election in 2014 as a morale booster, Mah said the Penang and central leadership would cooperate to win more seats in the coming general election.

Mah also reminded the party’s candidates to keep up their winning mentality in all seats to be contested in the 14th general election.

He said Gerakan was the first party to identify its potential candidates two years ago and had appointed them as coordinators in 12 parliamentary seats and 33 state seats.

Mah also slammed opposition pact Pakatan Harapan ( PH) for using politics of fear to scare the people that the Malaysian economy was not doing well.

He pointed out that under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Malaysia’s foreign relations with other countries had strengthened from visits to China, India, the US as well as the visit of the Saudi Arabian King to Malaysia with investments worth hundreds of billions of ringgit flowing in.

“Malaysia has adopted a tradefriendly foreign policy to create thousands of job opportunities for the people and drive the national economy to surpass the RM2 trillion mark by 2025,” he said. — Bernama
