-

A GOVERNMENT administrative block has been proposed for Balingian to deliver better and quality services for the community there.

According to Abdul Yakub Arbi ( BN- Balingian), it is high time his constituents see a new government building that would house several key departments and agencies – all meant to enhance the service delivery to the people.

He also proposed the establishment of a Rural Transformation Centre ( RTC) in his constituency to boost the socio- economic development in the area.

“Balingian needs a RTC and I hope the government would seriously consider this proposal,” he said in his debate speech on budget yesterday.

Abdul Yakub said the current mini stadium in Balingian needed to be upgraded, in view of its sorry state.

According to him, as the mini stadium is the only sports facility in Balingian, it is hoped that the government could implement upgrading works on it towards providing better facilities for the locals.

“With adequate sports-related facilities in place, I believe that the state would be able to produce more quality sportsmen and sportswomen who can shine not just at national level, but also at the international arena.”

Noting that the state government had set aside RM232 million under Budget 2018 for constructing affordable houses, Abdul Yakub also expressed his hope for the government to consider allocating some units to Balingian.

He also proposed for the Tellian Bypass to be constructed in providing more travelling convenience to the people of Balingian.

According to him, the government needs to allocate an estimated cost of RM12.5 million

to build the bypass, which involves a 2.5km stretch of R3grade road.

“I hereby urge the authorities to build this Tellian Bypass to shorten the travel distance for the people,” he pointed out.
