More allocations needed for retaining wall project at Batang Mukah — Tellian rep
YUSSIBNOSH BALO ( BNTellian) has requested the government to increase the allocation for the construction of a 1km retaining wall along Batang Mukah.
According to him, the RM700,000 allocation which is available under this year’s Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP), can only cover 45m.
He pointed out that the urgently- needed retaining wall is meant to prevent further riverbank erosion affecting Kampung Penakub Hilir.
“As such, it is hoped that the relevant ministry could help to increase the allocation to continue with the project,” he told the august House yesterday.
Yussibnosh also expressed his hope for Sarawak Energy Bhd ( SEB) to shift the sub- station in the area to prevent it from being affected by the erosion.
He also told the House on the need for Land Custody and Development Authority ( LCDA) to help with the earth- filling for Kampung Tellian Phase II extension scheme.
According to him, this particular site is a low-lying area that is affected by high tides.
On the construction of a hospital in Mukah, Yussibnosh said that he was made to understand that the project on a 44.56- acre site was approved in September 2007.
In this regard, he expressed his hope for the project to go ahead towards accommodating the rising population there.
