HDC proposes another affordable housing project for Bintulu pending relevant approval

-

BINTULU: The Housing Development Corporation ( HDC) plans to build another affordable housing project here.

According to HDC chief executive officer Mohamad Asman Ahmad, this proposal would only be announced to the public once the corporation has received the approval from the relevant agencies.

It is learnt that the houses would be slated more for ownership than for rent-out.

“I cannot provide more details about the project for now as it is still in the planning stage – further announcements will be made in due course,” he told reporters when asked to elaborate on his announcement made earlier about the latest project here to the 17 resident representatives of PPR Bandaria Park Bintulu, during a dialogue on Sunday where Bintulu District Officer Mataip Sayu and Laku Management Sdn Bhd representative Yong Bing Man were also present.

On the dialogue, Mohamad Asman said it was part of HDC’s community engagement especially with the flats residents under its jurisdiction, which had been carried out since August this year.

“With this dialogue session, HDC will have a first-hand information about any issue or problem, so that they could be solved immediately – particularly those (affecting residents) under HDC’s jurisdiction.

“However on other issues related to other agencies, we bring in Laku and Bintulu District Office to join us in the dialogue so that they can explain to the residents better,” he said.

Mohamad Asman said the low water pressure and issues related to policies were the two major problems highlighted during the dialogue.

He assured the residents that HDC and the relevant agencies would do their best to find the best solution for each problem raised during the dialogue.

“PPR Bandaria Park Bintulu is considered as one of the best flat communities in terms of facilities, quality and residents – they are very cooperative,” said Mohamad Asman.

According to him, PPR Bandaria Park Bintulu has 1,000 units – 957 units of which are occupied while the remaining ones are reserved for fire victims.

“For the record, four out of seven families, whose houses in Kampung Sebuan Besar Jepak were destroyed by fire in September, have been offered to rent four units and (they are) now in the process of signing the agreement,” he said.
