SUPP Senadin to set up subbranches, recruit young blood

-

MIRI: The Senadin branch of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party ( SUPP) plans to set up sub- branch committees in villages, residential areas as well as resettlement schemes.

Its chairman Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, said the sub-branches will enable more effective and efficient service delivery.

“Senadin branch covers quite a big area. For more effective and efficient delivery of services to the people, it is important to set up subbranch committees in villages, residential and housing areas and resettlements under Senadin,” he said Sunday at the branch’s fourth Triennial General Meeting.

“Currently, I believed that we might have overlooked some areas in Senadin. Through the sub-branches, we can cover a large area and deliver more effective and efficient services to the people.”

The move, he added, will also reflect SUPP as a multi-racial party and not a single-race party.

“It is important for us to reflect the party as a multiracial party which serves all and not just the Chinese, as we now have quite a number of members who are nonChinese, particularly the Bumiputera.”

Lee also stressed the importance of recruiting more youths to join and strengthen the party to groom the next generation of leaders.

“Although Senadin branch records the largest Youth and Women wings with more than 2,000 and 3,000 members respectively among the branches throughout the state, we must intensify our exercise to recruit members particularly among the youths.”

The meeting saw Lee remain as Senadin branch chairman, with Chai Kuen Ming as deputy chairman and Kueh Chie Tiong, Goh Khiok Seng, Chong Ah Muk and Joanna Ping Eng Oyok as vice- chairpersons.

Tang Siong Chung and Yap Siew Jin are Youth and Women wing chiefs respectively.
