If Ratner involved, Gadot to reject Wonder Woman reprise
LOS ANGELES: Actress Gal Gadot has said she won’t reprise her role in Wonder Woman if producer Brett Ratner continues his involvement in the franchise.
Ratner has been accused of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct by more than seven women, including actress Ellen Page.
Page had taken to her own Facebook page on Nov 11 to detail how Ratner behaved on set of X Men: The Last Stand when she was just eighteen years old. Included in her allegations is the admission Ratner told a woman ten years Page’s senior that she “should (expletive) Page to make her realise she’s gay,” while they were mingling at an official meet and greet for the film.
Now, as the allegations pile up, Gadot is reportedly refusing to continue her work on the Wonder Woman franchise unless it severs ties with Ratner.
A source said Gadot is taking a stand against Ratner and won’t sign for a superhero sequel unless he is removed from the project.
Ratner’s production company RatPac-Dune Entertainment co-financed Wonder Woman, alongside Warner Bros., meaning Ratner’s company directly profits from the film’s success.
According to the Los Angeles Times, back in October Ratner was presented with the Jewish National Fund’s Tree of Life Award at a gala in Hollywood, an award that Gadot was supposed to present but pulled out of due to a scheduling conflict.
Since the allegations have arisen it seems Gadot is taking a more public stance by boycotting the film’s production and it only seems fitting considering the film’s theme of women’s empowerment.
