Job­less man found hang­ing in rented house

LIM­BANG: The body of an un­em­ployed man was found hang­ing in a room of a rented house atop a hill at Jalan Buang­siul here yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

The 62-year-old de­ceased, known as ‘Ah Pui’, was dis­cov­ered around 1.20pm by his land­lord’s chil­dren, who had gone to check on him when he failed to join the fam­ily for break­fast.

“Nor­mally Ah Pui would join us for meals and he would usu­ally turn up for break­fast at our house around 9am. When he didn’t turn up this morn­ing (yes­ter­day), we sensed some­thing was amiss and went to check on him.

we saw Ah Pui hang­ing in the room and he was al­ready life­less,” said the chil­dren when met by re­porters.

They added that Ah Pui, orig­i­nally from Sibu­ran, Kuch­ing had been rent­ing the house for the past six months.

Prior to that, he had been rent­ing an­other house at the base of the hill be­long­ing to the same fam­ily.

District po­lice chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saf­fai, who con­firmed re­ceiv­ing a re­port of the in­ci­dent, said Ah Pui was be­lieved to have died within 24 hours of his body’s dis­cov­ery.

He added po­lice have clas­si­fied the case as sud­den death.

Po­lice per­son­nel leave the scene with the de­ceased. The body was brought to Lim­bang Hos­pi­tal for a post-mortem.
