Jobless man found hanging in rented house

LIMBANG: The body of an unemployed man was found hanging in a room of a rented house atop a hill at Jalan Buangsiul here yesterday afternoon.

The 62-year-old deceased, known as ‘Ah Pui’, was discovered around 1.20pm by his landlord’s children, who had gone to check on him when he failed to join the family for breakfast.

“Normally Ah Pui would join us for meals and he would usually turn up for breakfast at our house around 9am. When he didn’t turn up this morning (yesterday), we sensed something was amiss and went to check on him.

we saw Ah Pui hanging in the room and he was already lifeless,” said the children when met by reporters.

They added that Ah Pui, originally from Siburan, Kuching had been renting the house for the past six months.

Prior to that, he had been renting another house at the base of the hill belonging to the same family.

District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai, who confirmed receiving a report of the incident, said Ah Pui was believed to have died within 24 hours of his body’s discovery.

He added police have classified the case as sudden death.
