Christmas Art Festival to light up Bintang Megamall from Dec 8 to 10

MIRI: Bintang Megamall and C Studio will jointly organise a Christmas Art Festival (CAF) at the popular shopping mall from 10am to 10pm daily from Dec 8 to 10.

According to Bintang’s event manager Allen Wong, the festival will feature arts and colour to light up the festive season.

“It offers the public an artsy experience whereby they get tp participat­e in various activities in the form of a contest, enabling Mirians of any age to showcase their talent in art,” Wong said in a press conference at Meritz Hotel yesterday.

Some of the activities over the 3- day event include colouring and drawing contest, decorating Christmas tree contest, and booths selling a variety of food and crafts.

The Colouring Contest on Dec 8 is open to primary pupils under two categories: Group A – six to nine years old and Group B - 10 to 12 years old. Each participan­t has to register by the closing date on Nov 30 at RM10 per pax. Contact 016- 886 8477 (Chong) to register.

Decorating Christmas Tree Contest on Dec 9 is open to families of parents and children.

Participan­ts have to prepare their own craft materials. The organiser will have a plain Christmas tree prepared for each team to decorate using their creativity.

It is limited to 20 teams. Each team has to register by Nov 30 at RM50 per team. Contact 016- 886 8477 (Chong) to register.

“We anticipate more family teams and children to participat­e in the two contests, and we want parents and their children to bond through doing art and craft together,” said founder of C Studio, Chong Teck Chain.

“Christmas is about family and the contest promises them a great time brain-storming,” he said.

There are already a total of 12 booths including Henna Tattoo, Illustrati­on by Wilander, Hama Beads, Typhoon Studio, Starz Team Art & Craft, Xoxo Florist, The Wallpaper Shop, JS Coffee Bakery, JC Nail & Beauty, RedOne, and Daniel Balloon & Popcorn so far.

Chong said as there are still three unoccupied booths, those interested to join can contact him at 016- 886 8477.

“As the festival is about spreading love and care for each other, part of proceeds from sales at these booths will be donated to Miri Methodist Orphanage Home,” Chong said, adding that they are targeting to raise RM5,000 from the three- day event.

The highlight of the event will be Graffiti Art by well-known local mirror painter. Sam Lim.

“There will be a gigantic canvas surroundin­g the venue, and Sam will be unleash his creativity with art about Christmas and the spirit of giving.

Wong took the opportunit­y to thank Typhoon Studio, RedOne, Tenby Internatio­nal School of Miri and Yocho Production­s for supporting the event.

“We shall be looking forward to more participat­ion among children and we hope to make the event a gigantic art - likely to be the biggest in Miri,” said Allen Wong.

The press conference was also attended by Tenby’s campus principal Jeanne Denyer and Bintang’s assistant event executive Shirley Sia.
