Christ­mas Art Fes­ti­val to light up Bin­tang Mega­mall from Dec 8 to 10

MIRI: Bin­tang Mega­mall and C Stu­dio will jointly or­gan­ise a Christ­mas Art Fes­ti­val (CAF) at the pop­u­lar shop­ping mall from 10am to 10pm daily from Dec 8 to 10.

Ac­cord­ing to Bin­tang’s event man­ager Allen Wong, the fes­ti­val will fea­ture arts and colour to light up the fes­tive sea­son.

“It of­fers the public an artsy ex­pe­ri­ence whereby they get tp par­tic­i­pate in var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties in the form of a con­test, en­abling Miri­ans of any age to show­case their tal­ent in art,” Wong said in a press con­fer­ence at Meritz Ho­tel yes­ter­day.

Some of the ac­tiv­i­ties over the 3- day event in­clude colour­ing and draw­ing con­test, dec­o­rat­ing Christ­mas tree con­test, and booths sell­ing a va­ri­ety of food and crafts.

The Colour­ing Con­test on Dec 8 is open to pri­mary pupils un­der two cat­e­gories: Group A – six to nine years old and Group B - 10 to 12 years old. Each par­tic­i­pant has to reg­is­ter by the clos­ing date on Nov 30 at RM10 per pax. Con­tact 016- 886 8477 (Chong) to reg­is­ter.

Dec­o­rat­ing Christ­mas Tree Con­test on Dec 9 is open to fam­i­lies of par­ents and chil­dren.

Par­tic­i­pants have to pre­pare their own craft ma­te­ri­als. The or­gan­iser will have a plain Christ­mas tree pre­pared for each team to dec­o­rate us­ing their cre­ativ­ity.

It is lim­ited to 20 teams. Each team has to reg­is­ter by Nov 30 at RM50 per team. Con­tact 016- 886 8477 (Chong) to reg­is­ter.

“We an­tic­i­pate more fam­ily teams and chil­dren to par­tic­i­pate in the two con­tests, and we want par­ents and their chil­dren to bond through do­ing art and craft to­gether,” said founder of C Stu­dio, Chong Teck Chain.

“Christ­mas is about fam­ily and the con­test prom­ises them a great time brain-storm­ing,” he said.

There are al­ready a to­tal of 12 booths in­clud­ing Henna Tat­too, Il­lus­tra­tion by Wi­lan­der, Hama Beads, Typhoon Stu­dio, Starz Team Art & Craft, Xoxo Florist, The Wall­pa­per Shop, JS Cof­fee Bak­ery, JC Nail & Beauty, RedOne, and Daniel Bal­loon & Pop­corn so far.

Chong said as there are still three un­oc­cu­pied booths, those in­ter­ested to join can con­tact him at 016- 886 8477.

“As the fes­ti­val is about spread­ing love and care for each other, part of pro­ceeds from sales at these booths will be do­nated to Miri Methodist Or­phan­age Home,” Chong said, adding that they are tar­get­ing to raise RM5,000 from the three- day event.

The high­light of the event will be Graf­fiti Art by well-known lo­cal mir­ror painter. Sam Lim.

“There will be a gi­gan­tic can­vas sur­round­ing the venue, and Sam will be un­leash his cre­ativ­ity with art about Christ­mas and the spirit of giv­ing.

Wong took the op­por­tu­nity to thank Typhoon Stu­dio, RedOne, Tenby In­ter­na­tional School of Miri and Yo­cho Pro­duc­tions for sup­port­ing the event.

“We shall be look­ing for­ward to more par­tic­i­pa­tion among chil­dren and we hope to make the event a gi­gan­tic art - likely to be the big­gest in Miri,” said Allen Wong.

The press con­fer­ence was also at­tended by Tenby’s cam­pus prin­ci­pal Jeanne Denyer and Bin­tang’s as­sis­tant event ex­ec­u­tive Shirley Sia.
