LAWAS: Political instability and chaos will cause foreign investors to shun the country and negatively impact Malaysian businesses.

Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Datuk Henry Sum Agong said the negative impact will make it difficult for traders to do business.

“Malaysians must strengthen peace, foster understanding and inter- racial tolerance to build a better future for the country,” he said during a dinner to mark National Hawkers and Petty Traders Day 2017.

The dinner was organised by Lawas Hawkers Association in conjunction with its 40th anniversary at Lawas Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.

added the long established peace in the country had given ample opportunities for the business community, especially small and medium business entities, to achieve success.

“The government, through various agencies, provides assistance to hawkers to start their business or to expand their businesses,” he said.

Lawas district officer Husaini Hakim and organising chairman Tie Sing Hai were among the more than 1,000 guests at the event.
