Work together for the party, SUPP members told

KAPIT: Members of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) here are urged to set aside their personal difference­s and work together for the party and the people.

The newly elected chairman of SUPP Kapit Branch James Ling Thian Ing gave this reminder during the first committee meeting held on Tuesday after their annual general meeting on Nov 11.

“Bear in mind, no one is indispensa­ble, leaders come and go but the party remains. We are here to contribute to the party and the people hoping that the party would stay relevant in this challengin­g time.

“Let us also work together with the local people’s elected representa­tives; Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Pelagus assemblyma­n Wilson Nyabong and Bukit Goram assemblyma­n Jefferson Jamit. Being a component of the state BN, it is our responsibi­lity to work closely with these ‘wakil rakyat’ to ensure political stability and unity among the people,” he said.

On their next year’s planning, Ling said they would like to consolidat­e their present membership and recruit more new ones to strengthen the party.

He said applicatio­n forms are available from him at Lian Hin Motor ( 013 820 6161), secretary David Wong Hau Ching ( 013 824 1186), Cr Jenny Yii Si Geok ( 013 824 4800).

He also said the meeting had agreed to set up a social welfare fund meant for the needy members and victims of natural disasters like flood or fi re.

Meanwhile the branch is sending two delegates to the party’s triennial delegates conference (TDC) on Dec 22 to 24 in Kuching - James Ling and Cr David Wong. The observers are Dato’ Yong Hua Sying, Cr Jenny Yii Si Geok, Wong Mee Ing.
