RM246.4 million to implement 9 industrial park projects under 11MP

-

AN allocation of RM246.4 million has been approved by the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development to implement 19 industrial park projects under the 11th Malaysia Plan.

Of the total number, three projects have been fully completed - Sama Jaya Phase 5, Demak Laut Phase 2B Stage 1 and Tebedu - while others are at various stages of implementation, said its minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

He said physical work is in progress for the Demak Laut Phase 2B Stage 2, Kapit and Marudi projects while the projects for Sibu, Demak Laut Phase 2E and Sebuyau are in the design process.

“The land acquisition process has been completed for Sri Aman and Betong, while the Land and Survey Department is in the process of reclaiming land for Bau and Lundu for the general industry, as well as Rantau Panjang Phase 2 in Sibu, which is meant for the shipbuilding industry,” he said in his windingup speech yesterday.

Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, said those initiatives demonstrated the government’s commitment in giving priority to local small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs), including micro entrepreneurs.

He thus called on local SMEs to be more proactive and innovative in taking up the challenges and utilise the programmes the government has provided.

On other note, he said following the establishment of the Entrepreneur Development Coordination Committee (SEDCC) earlier this year, his ministry, in collaboration with all relevant agencies would hold a lab to coordinate all programmes, projects and activities planned for 2018 for each agency under the committee.

He said to disseminate entrepreneurial information, SEDCC would publish a directory to be distributed to entrepreneurs as a reference to the capacity development programme and other assistance offered by government agencies.

He said SEDCC would also develop an interactive portal along with the agencies involved.

“The information portal will be displayed at each resident and district office,” he added.
