Joy for centenarian, daughter after Ibraco agrees to fix run-down house

-

KUCHING: Centenarian Maree Mion will soon get his wish for better living conditions after Ibraco Berhad agreed to repair his damaged wooden dwelling for free.

The 108-year- old Maree lives with his 58-year- old daughter Sa’adiah, who suffers from kidney failure.

The house they live in is very old, does not have water or electricity supply, and could collapse at any moment. The duo depends solely on RM400 in monthly aid from the state Welfare Department.

Maree has poor hearing and vision, but still takes care of his sick daughter who requires dialysis treatment three times a week.

During a visit by Hope Place Kuching to their home on Wednesday, Sa’adiah informed founder Kelvin Wan that her father had just suffered a fall after a termite-infested stair gave way.

“The ground floor of our home has been infested by termites since last year and is not safe to walk on. But we have no money to repair it, and there is no other place we can go and stay,” she said.

After learning of their predicament, Wan sought help from renowned property developer Ibraco Berhad, who agreed to repair the house for free.

After being told of the great news, and with tears of joy streaming down his cheeks, Maree thanked Hope Place for highlighting their plight.
