5,000 bookings for new Myvi upon debut

-

KUCHING: The all-new Perodua Myvi, which made its global debut on Thursday with 5,000 bookings, has a 5-Star safety rating from the Asean NCap (New Car Assessment Programme), making it one of the best value cars in its price range.

Priced from RM44,300 to RM55,300, the Myvi is now available at all Perodua showrooms nationwide.

Offering modern technology, youthful design, versatile space, and intelligent safety, the new Myvi succeeds the best- selling model in Malaysia for nine years in a row.

“This new model features technology which was before this only available in premium cars. This all-new Myvi also sets a benchmark for us in terms of quality, design and overall offerings for our future models,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Aminar Rashid Salleh in a statement.

He added Perodua aims to sell an average 6,000 units monthly.

Among the key features is Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), which has four main functions – Pre- Collision Warning alerts the driver that a collision is imminent; Pre- Collision Braking assists drivers by applying the brakes if they are unaware of an impending collision; Front Departure Alert warns drivers that the vehicle in front has moved, particularly useful in heavy traffic; and Pedal Misoperation Control for when drivers accidentally select Drive instead of Reverse when there is an obstacle in front such as a wall.

“These features are a first for this price segment. However, safety is still in the hands of the driver and the system is only there to assist,” Aminar said.

Other Malaysian- centric features of the car include builtin toll reader and an anti- theft hook, which made its debut in the Perodua Axia in 2014.

The ASA feature and built-in toll reader are only available in the Advance Version.

The new Myvi has posted fuel use of between 20.1 and 21.1 km per litre, making it on average 32 per cent more efficient than the previous model.

Being 205 millimetres longer, 30 millimetres lower and 70 millimetres wider, with a wheelbase 60 millimetres longer than its predecessor, the all-new Myvi offers more space inside.

A tandem distance of 937 millimetres ensures lots of legroom, and luggage space has increased by 69 litres to 277 litres. Other headlining features include LED headlamps with follow-mehome function and headlamp levelling, LED rear combination lamps with light guides and Smart Entry with Push Start – standard across the range.

All Myvi variants have AntiLock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution ( EBD) and Vehicle Stability Control ( VSC).

The 1.5 variants come with six airbags, while four airbags are standard in 1.3 variants.

Colours available are Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Mystical Purple, Lava Red, Peppermint Green (1.3 variants only) and Granite Grey (1.5 variants only).

A five-year or 150,000km warranty is offered as standard throughout the range.
