Thankful community leader wishes for ‘proportionate’ increment

-

KUCHING: A Bidayuh community leader for Kuching division Austin Dimin Niyon says the community leaders appreciate the state government’s decision to increase their allowance by RM100.

However, he felt that the increment should be proportionate to the different levels of community leaders, which are Temenggong, Pemanca, Penghulu and Village Chief.

“To be fair to the different grades of community leaders, the increment should be proportionate to the grade, RM100 being the minimum ... anyway community leaders appreciate what the state government has decided, “he wrote via Whatsapp.

He was asked to comment on the state government’s decision to increase the allowance of community leaders and village chiefs by RM100 effective next year.

The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during his winding up speech at State Lagislative Assembky (DUN) sitting on Friday.

On Friday, a group of community leaders from Tebedu who visited DUN were pleasantly surprised by news of the increment.

Temenggong Henry Bujang Sadok, who spoke on their behalf, thanked the state government under the leadereship of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for being kind and understanding their hardship and predicament.
