SMK Bandar Sarikei holds prize-giving and ‘graduation’ ceremony

SARIKEI: SMK Bandar Sarikei held a prize giving and ‘graduation’ ceremony to celebrate the achievemen­ts of students as well as the successful completion of their secondary education.

A total of 97 Upper Six students who completed their studies at the school received their certificat­es during this inaugural ceremony organised by the school for its pre-University students.

The ceremony also witnessed students from other classes receiving prizes and certificat­es in recognitio­n of their impressive performanc­es in both academic and co-curricular activities.

On hand to present the certificat­es and prizes was Andrew Wong Pak Ung who represente­d Repok Assemblyma­n, Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii.

Wong congratula­ted those honoured for their excellent performanc­e and achievemen­ts. He advised them not to be complacent but to keep on striving to improve themselves as there was no limit in their pursuit for excellence.

Wong said the school was fortunate to enjoy good support from their assemblyma­n as reflected in the RM350,000 and RM314,000 grant allocated to the school in 2016 and 2017 for the upgrading of facilities.

He was confident Huang would continue to render his support to school in the coming years, Wong added.

Meanwhile, Muhd. Fadhillan Aiman Suhaili was chosen as the winner of the Best Curriculum and Exemplary Student awards; Afiff Syafiee Buang won the co-curriculum Award and Alice Januri got the Best Student with Special Needs.

Among those present were principal Mohamad Lela Alamsah; an officer from the district Education Office Claudius Liew, Senior Assistant Latip Mat and PIBG chairperso­n Lee Hee Hoon.
