Dentistry student bags gold at IADR competition
CHIAM Lee Cheng won the first prize winner of the Unilever Hatton Junior First Prize Award. Here, she relates her experience of presenting at the conference and winning the competition.
“When my name was announced as the first prize winner of the Unilever Hatton Junior First Prize Award, I was really shocked but at the same time filled with joy,” she said.
The hard work had paid off. Winning this competition also means that shewill be fully sponsored to represent the South East Asia Division to the International Association for Dental Research Main Meeting to be held in London in July 2018.
“I am extremely thrilled and grateful for this prestigious award and the recognition given to our research project,” said Chiam.
At IMU, students who are studying dentistry have the option to complete the entire degree in IMU or study the first two and a half years of the degree in IMU and transfer to one of its five partner universities in Australia, New Zealand, UK, or Canada for completion of the dentistry programme. These international partnerships mean that the IMU curriculum has been developed to meet these universities’ high international standards.

The workshop facilitators, comprising IMU lecturers and faculty members, will guide students on the activities located at the various facilities such as the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, Dental Skills Centre, Medical Museum, Research Lab and Multidisciplinary Lab.
