KUCHING: Ten Penan students from Ulu Baram will be among the participants of the TEDxKenyalang 2017, scheduled to take place at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) this Nov 25 to 26.

According to Kenyalang Capital Ventures Sdn Bhd director Muhammad Firdaus Manan, who is sponsoring the trip for the Penans, it is the company’s wish to empower the Penan youths by exposing them to TEDxKenyalang – a conference that features many prominent speakers.

“We hope that this small effort could inspire them ( Penan students) towards realising their dreams and bringing better changes to their community,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Firdaus said the trip and the participation in TEDxKenyalang 2017 stand as a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

“Such event should greatly benefit the locals, especially the rural folk, who are set to become the catalyst towards the transformation of Sarawak.

“As a player in the private sector, we look forward to playing greater roles towards the development of human capital in Sarawak. We hope that the participants of TEDxKenyalang 2017 would fully utilise this opportunity towards self-development,” he added.
