SJKC Sg Jaong model ‘transformation school’ in Baram
MARUDI: SJKC Sungai Jaong has been hailed as the best among all Chinese-medium schools in Baram District based on its commendable Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) results.
Baram Education oficer Saripah Azizah Wan Hussein hopes that other schools would emulate the success of SJKC Sungai Jaong, where the pupils are very competent in Higher Order Thinking Skills ( HOTS).
“In this regard, I want to commend the school’s headmistress Then Jit Kho for her leadership in adopting changes for the benefit of the children.
“Sarawak now has a Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research led by Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, which has been assisting the school in many aspects including enhancing its facilities. This, I believe, also contributes to the good achievement of this school. I view SJKC Sungai Jaong as a model ` Transformation School’ for others in Baram,” she said at the school’s `Excellence Day 2017’ awards presentation ceremony yesterday.
Saripah Azizah also called upon Then and the teachers to prioritise the teaching and usage of the English language among the children, even those still at pre-school level.
