Connections Toastmasters Club to hold meeting tomorrow

-

KUCHING: Connections Toastmasters Club ( CTMC) will conduct their club meeting tomorrow from 7.15pm at Homestay Hotel, Jalan Ellis here.

The meeting is open to the public.

In conjunction with the International Thanksgiving Day, the theme of the upcoming meeting is ‘ Thanksgiving Day’.

“Thanksgiving has been celebrated as a day to give thanks to God for His gracious and sufficient provision.” said Vincent Chai, the current president of Connections Toastmasters Club.

“There’s always, always something to be thankful for. Our world is caught up in a sense of entitlement and thus we are often discontent.

“A better approach is to be thankful for everything and in every situation. On this Thanksgiving Day, let us pause for a moment to ponder on and be grateful for what God has graciously blessed us with,” he added.

The Toastmaster of the Evening ( T.M.E), also known as emcee, of the coming meeting is Toastmaster Thomas Teo, a newly elected youth leader in SUPP.

Thomas joined Toastmasters a year ago and is currently serving as the vice-president member in Connection Toastmasters Club.

He is also the Immediate Past President of Junior Chamber International Kuching (JCI Kuching) and was recently elected as National Vice President of Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCI Malaysia).

Toastmasters International is a non- profit educational organisation which provides a platform for members in training on public speaking, effective communication and leadership skills.

A typical Toastmasters meeting will have members delivering their prepared speeches.

There will also be an impromptu speaking session, known as Table Topics in which the audience will speak for one to two minutes based on the topics given.

Connections Toastmasters Club aims to build competent speakers through completed speeches manuals.

Members who had delivered their speeches will receive constructive evaluation and feedback from club members.

“In our club, members can learn and progress in a supportive learn-by- doing environment that allows them to achieve goals at their own pace,” Chai elaborated.

The door fee for the upcoming meeting is RM10.00 per person inclusive of light refreshment.

The meeting is hosted on every second and fourth Thursdays of the month at Homestay Hotel at 7.30pm.
