Over 50,000 pupils to sit for SBP entry test this year — Mahdzir

-

PENDANG: More than 50,000 Standard Six pupils will sit for a special online test introduced by the Education Ministry for the first time for entry into Form One at fully-residential schools (SBP) next year.

Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the test would be conducted from Dec 11 to 15 at more than 200 examination centres across the country.

“The test is to select the 10,000 pupils who will be offered a place at 69 SBP nationwide.

“Beginning this year, there will also be an entry assessment into SBP, which will take into account the four components of the Primary School Assessment Report ( PPSR), as well as the results of the special online test,” he said.

Mahdzir said this to reporters after launching the ‘ My New School’ programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Paya Rawa here yesterday.

Also present was State Education director Datuk Azuyah Hassan.

The four components of the PPSR covers the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) or Primary School Assessment Test; classroom evaluation, physical activity, sports and co- curricular assessment and psychometric assessment.

Mahdzir said the introduction of the new test showed that the ministry was serious in producing students who excelled in various aspects, not just in academic. — Bernama
