‘Charity Without Borders – Part 5’ to kick off early December

-

KUCHING: Kuching ‘ Charity without Borders ( CWB)’ – the annual programme jointly introduced by Hope Place Kuching and Bintulu 4x4 Challenge Club five years ago – will return for this year’s edition next month.

For the ‘CWB5 – 2017’, the team will depart from Sri Aman on Dec 8, commencing the journey at 5am. For this trip, they will visit two villages housing about 50 families.

The team from Hope Place Kuching will bring along food items like rice, cooking oil, salt, sugar, noodle, biscuit, Milo, instant oats, toys and used clothes for distribution to the villagers.

The year, the CWB5 will also bring along medical personnel including dentists through the help from the Health Department, as well as three veterinarians from the Veterinary Services Department in Sri Aman.

“They (veterinarians) will join CWB5, where they will give rabies vaccination to dogs and cats at the longhouses,” a spokesperson from the organisers said.

Meanwhile, Hope Place is still looking for donated items to be brought along for CWB5, which will run till Dec 10.

“These items are 300 packs of Milo (1kg pack), 1kg of salt, 300 packs of sugar (1kg pack) 300 bottles of cooking oil ( 2kg per bottle), 100 packs of oats (1kg pack), two rolls of PVC carpets, and 300 boxes of biscuits,” said Hope Place in a statement.

Hope Place is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that visits the poor and less-fortunate families to contribute to them essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles. Many of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month; hence many are grateful for such assistance.

For the families caring for children with special needs, elderly or disabled individuals, Hope Place provides milk powder, oat and diapers as well.

The NGO carries out aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients list. Currently, it supports more than 170 families.

For more information, call Hope Place via 013- 567 2775 / 082505 987 from 8.30am to noon, and 2pm- 5pm, Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, the time to call is from 9am to noon only.

Should anyone be interested to make a donation, do request for a receipt from the staff at Hope Place.
