MIRI: The SK Jalan Bintang parent-teacher associatio­n ( PTA) treated 46 pupils to a Christmas shopping spree on Tuesday.

Under the annual programme, the pupils from low income families had the chance to select new clothes, shoes and accessorie­s for Christmas accompanie­d by 33 teachers.

“Our objective is to help the underprivi­leged pupils and we hope with the cooperatio­n from the PIBG ( PTA), these children are not left behind in celebratin­g any activity or festival,” said PTA chairman Mohd Farez Samin.

programme for Muslim students, where we also brought them to shop for their Raya outfits, and most importantl­y, we hope to bring cheer and joy to these pupils.”

Mohd Farez said the school ran a collection around two weeks prior.

“I am grateful with all the contributi­ons that we have managed to get within that short period of time and I hope we will be able to get more for the same programme next time,” he added.

Boulevard Hypermarke­t also donated school bags to the pupils and goodies for the teachers as well.

Among those present were SKJB senior assistant (administra­tion) Henry Madai, senior assistant ( special education) Suhaila Sabeh, senior assistant (cocurricul­um) Henry Edward Tarang, Boulevard Hypermarke­t operations manager (supermarke­t) Danny Lau Yu Chai, Boulevard Hypermarke­t operation manager ( hardline) Ko Siew Lan, and marketing manager (group) Alan Lee Chee Leong.
