Awg Tengah: Mechanisms in place to develop Lingga
LINGGA: The proposed Batang Lupar Bridge will also become an important connection in the coastal road network, an alternative to the Pan Borneo Highway and giving an option to motorists.
“Once completed, it will be the longest bridge in Sarawak at 5km long, stretching from Triso to Sebuyau,” said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan yesterday, when officiating at the Lingga Festival 2017 at Kampung Lingga, Sri Aman.
The state government has allocated RM500 million, while the federal government will contribute another RM500 million for the project.
Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources and Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Minister, said that Lingga has plenty to look forward to in the near future with the mechanism in place to develop the area.
“Lingga Town will get 20 units of shophouses to be built in 2018. Currently, Pelita is identifying a suitable location and the state government through my ministry has approved RM5 million for the project,” he said.
Also present were Assistant Minister for Coastal Roads Datuk Julaihi Narawi and Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri.
Awang Tengah assured that both Julaihi and Simoi were committed to helping the people of Lingga, for as long as the people continue to support their leadership.
Lingga Festival 2017 has an exciting line up of activities including a regatta, karaoke competition, golden voice competition, fishing competition and more. It runs from Nov 24 to 26.
