Umno special convention to kick start information machinery for GE14

-

KUALA LUMPUR: A special convention at the Umno General Assembly (UGA) early next month will kick start the party’s information machinery in preparation for the 14th General Election (GE14) .

Umno Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the special convention involving more than 1,500 senior information officers to be held on Dec 5, is scheduled to be opened by Umno vice-president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“It will be held in the morning and will end in the afternoon with a briefing by Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The briefing will involve about 4,000 leaders at grassroots level. It will kick start the mood and winning mentality for GE14,” he said after chairing the Umno Information Machinery meeting, here yesterday.

Annuar said 133,580 information chiefs and secretaries at all levels nationwide were instructed to step up their respective programmes.

“The information scope of work has changed altogether.

“The information officers can engage in online programmes, information sharing by engaging groups who do not attend the party’s programmes.”

The Umno information machinery will focus on the ‘Fight For All’ programme which is into the 17 series and via the ‘Anda Tanya, Kita Jawab’ segment of the Umno portal on the party’s official website.

Another new programme is the ‘Mobile LED’ tour using trucks which is held in a laid back environment.

Annuar was confident the people would accept the explanation on the issues raised by the opposition because the Malaysians are knowledgeable.

“However, no matter what the reply, it will not affect some people, especially the opposition, because they have their own perception.

“Our focus is the majority of Malaysians who want to know the truth,” he added. — Bernama
