Apple ‘working on’ iPhone like the foldable Galaxy X

-

A NUMBER of tech websites are reporting that Apple is working on an iPhone which is similar to Samsung’s foldable Galaxy X.

The Galaxy X has not been released, but Samsung has confirmed the existence of the handset, which may soon see a limited release.

It has been reported that Apple is working on a revolutionary iPhone design that’s so secret it had to partner with LG instead of Samsung to develop its screen.

But you’ll have to wait until at least 2020 when the revolutionary iPhone will debut.

It will come with a foldable OLED screen in a brand new design. The iPhone X has a foldable display as well, but it folds at the bottom and can’t be seen while using the phone – this is the trick that makes possible the edge-to-edge screen design, since Apple is able to hide the display controller at the bottom of the panel.

Meanwhile, Apple hasn’t totally forgotten the budget iPhone SE.

Purportedly, it looks set for an update next year.

Apple introduced the 4-inch iPhone SE in March 2016, but the current models still use the same components.

According to Taiwanese channel site CENS, the SE2 will be manufactured by Wistron in Bangalore.

The original iPhone launched in 2007 with a then-hefty 3.5-inch diagonal display, and only grew to a 4-inch diagonal with the iPhone 5 in 2012, as the market raced to larger displays.

The late Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ “thumb length logic” expressed the belief that a phone should be usable with one hand. But with Jobs gone, Apple did make the iPhone significantly larger in 2014, with a case size still used four generations later.

The Plus outsold the regular iPhone for the first time in the third quarter, because almost nobody in China wants anything under 5.5 inches.
