KUCHING: Some 1,400 Liverpool fans took part in the My Liverpool Run 2017 here last night.

The run was flagged off by Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof at the Giant Supermarket in Petra Jaya.

The inaugural run is aimed at providing Liverpool FC supporters a venue to express their love for the English Premier League club and also to promote healthy lifestyle.

The run was divided into two categories – 3km Family Run and 6km Fun Run.

Fadillah, who is also Petra Jaya MP, took part in the 6km Fun Run.

The runners received a finishers’ medal in the shape of a Liverpool logo.

Meanwhile, 300 participants will be joining a virtual run, where they can participate at their own time and venue of their choice with their video taken as proof to the organisers.

An array of fun-filled activities such as lucky draw and games were also held, before the screening of Liverpool vs Chelsea match live at 1.30am.

Meanwhile, Fadillah said the run was the first of its kind being held in Petra Jaya.

“It is a well-organised event and I hope this is the beginning of a greater event by Liverpool supporters.”

Fadillah, a Liverpool fan himself, lauded the Petra Jaya Liverpool Fan Club for their effort in organising the event and hoped that more fans throughout the state would join their future events.

He also hoped that Liverpool FC would perform better this season.
