KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is grateful to the media for being the ‘bridge’ that connects the local authority with the people through writing and publication of press statements.

Kuching North Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai remarks that ‘without them (media), DBKU’s development agenda for Kuching city would not be easily understood by city folk’.

“DBKU is very grateful for the support by the media for disseminating information on council’s issues,” he spoke at the ‘DBKU Media Night’ held in DBKU Arena here on Sunday.

He said through the media, DBKU could channel the latest information on its activities and future plans, as well as educate the people to love this city, in line with the goal of making the state capital ‘a city with a soul – the dream city’.

Guests at the get- together, themed ‘ Bollywood Night’, were entertained by a live band playing Bollywood songs and also a string of Bollywood dance performances at the DBKU Arena, which had been transformed into resembling a lavish Bollywood movie set – the guests even sat cross-legged at low tables on fully- carpeted floor.

Those attending, including DBKU staff, kept to the theme of the night by wearing colourful Bollywood costumes.

DBKU director Jumaini Haili and commission member Dato’ Wee Hong Seng were among the guests.
