‘Bring up children with good guidance’
KUCHING: Young children should be provided guidance so that they become good persons and be the pride of their parents, community and the country, said the Chief Minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
She regarded young children as valuable gifts and future leaders of the country if given good guidance.
“Parents need to discipline, guide them, always teach them good values, and all these should start at home. When these children are accustomed to what are being practised at home they will do the same in school,” she said.
“How we educate our children today is different from the past and parents should be an example to their children and we must not give all the responsibility of educating our children to teachers and the school alone,” she added.
Juma’ani further said that although parents are often too busy doing their own things and their jobs they need to spend some time with their children.

Juma’ami was speaking at the 7th Graduation Ceremony of Taska Tadika Yayasanku Sayang at Wisma Adenan, Sarawak Foundation yesterday.
Later, she gave away scrolls to the graduating children.
Earlier, before giving away the scrolls, she officially launched the Open Source for Kids’ (OS4KIDS) application software for the centre.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Foundation director Azmi Bujang said the software will be a stimulus to provide the best for the centre in helping to improve the quality of education and in diversifying the teaching and learning methods in early childhood education.
“The decision to use the method is made after conducting thorough research from various angles and the kindergarten has adopted the software since Aug 3,” he added.
Azmi believed that the software application will give the children exposure to information technology in line with the state government’s drive towards digital economy.
A total of 14 children from Tadika Yayasanku Sayang received their scrolls yesterday, and since its inception in 2010, a total of 250 students had graduated from the kindergarten.
Sarawak Foundation also celebrated the achievement of a former student Nurhawa Qistina Jolly who was from the first batch of Taska Tadika Yayasanku Sayang.
She obtained grade ‘A’ in all her subjects at the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) 2017.
Based on the number of applications received, a total of 40 children are expected to enrol at Taska Tadika Yayasanku Sayang for the 2018 session.
