KOTA KINABALU: Bugaya assemblyman Datuk Ramlee Marahaban filed a defamation suit against Likas assemblyman and Parti Warisan Sabah vice president Junz Wong and Wira Warisan chief Datuk Azis Jamman for their comments that he owned luxury vehicles and a seafront mansion here.

The suit, filed through Messr Nurul Rafeeqa Marcel Advocates at the High Court here yesterday, named Wong and Azis as the first and second defendants, respectively, for having made false allegations in their postings and The Borneo Post publication on Nov 15.

Wong and Azis, who made a press conference which was published in the newspapers, had raised questions on the ownership of luxury vehicles comprising two Lamborghinis and a Ferrari, among others, and the mansion in Putatan.

Ramlee, who is also the State Assistant Finance Minister, sought an injunction to restrain the defendants from further speaking and publishing defamatory words orally, in print media, or on the Internet.

He is also seeking an injunction against the two from assaulting or making unlawful intrusions into and over his property by the use of drones or other unmanned flying vehicles for unlawful purposes.

Ramlee is also seeking RM10 million damages, among others.

According to the writ of summons, Ramlee said that defamatory words spoken by the defendants were false, baseless and maliciously published which gravely injured in his character, credibility, personal and political reputation. He also said in the suit that the defendant’s words implied that he was corrupt and abused his position and had been enjoying luxurious life at the expense of his constituency.
