Six to battle it out in Bintang Kecil RTM 2017 finale

KUCHING: The Bintang Kecil RTM 2017 is down to six young finalists as the competitio­n draws even closer to its conclusion this Sunday at the State Indoor Stadium here, with the ceremony scheduled to commence at 8.30pm.

The young performers who have made it to the grand finale are Eiffel Pau Pailus, Dayang Irsyadhani­a Iraril and Ain Fariesha Azamain who are representi­ng Sabah, Nurul Maimanah Abdul Qahhar from Melaka, and the state’s very own Camaiellya Edward and Nur Ain Nadzirah Ahmad Safrie.

During a press conference on Bintang Kecil 2017 yesterday, the six introduced themselves to the media and presented a preview of what they would be singing at the final show.

According to RTM Sarawak deputy director ( broadcasti­ng) Faridah Sulong, the six have bloomed throughout the competitio­n – from being shy youngsters into confident personalit­ies who will charm the audience when they go up against one another this Dec 3.

For this year’s competitio­n, the ‘ Berambeh’ concept allowed the contestant­s to spend three weeks of training and recreation together, with educationa­l visits to various places of interest across the state capital as well as weekly concerts.

In the last week before the finale, the six will learn from Bintang Kecil 2017 trainers, dance instructor­s, voice coach Jay Thilag Viathiling­am from Sekolah Seni Kuching, assisted by Kombo D’ Aspirasi musicians such as Eugene Clifford Suboh.

The grand finale will be aired live on TV2 this Sunday. Those unable to attend can also follow Nasional FM, Sarawak FM, and also online radio via rtmsarawak. gov.my/SARAWAKfm.

Winner of Bintang Kecil 2017 will take home RM10,000, while the first and second runners-up will bag RM7,000 and RM5,000, respective­ly. The consolatio­n prize is worth RM4,000, while the finalist clinching the ‘ Best Performanc­e’ award will receive RM1,000.

Each of them will also be given a certificat­e and trophy.

The panel of judges will comprise five profession­als – two from Peninsular Malaysia, two from Sarawak and one from Sabah.

All finalists will be accompanie­d by Kombo D’ Aspirasi RTM Kuching, which will also include musicians from Angkasapur­i RTM Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 4,000 lucky draw tickets will be made available at the entrance of the indoor stadium here on the night of the event, giving members of the audience a chance to win attractive prizes.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to come as the guest- ofhonour at the finale of Bintang Kecil RTM competitio­n, which celebrates its 31st anniversar­y this year.

RTM radio engineerin­g chief assistant director Zulkifli Daud, radio section chief assistant director Saiful Arini and television section senior assistant Erma Kartika Zaini were also present at the press conference.
