Mattan Engineerin­g secures solar project contract worth RM285 million

KUCHING: Solutions provider for renewable energy infrastruc­ture, Mattan Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd ( Mattan), has entered into a contract valued at RM285 million with Solar Management Sdn Bhd as its EPCC contractor.

The contract is a beneficiar­y of the granting of financial close by Malaysia Building Society Bhd ( MBSB) to Solar Management for the large-scale solar50MWa­c Photovolta­ic Generation Facility.

Under this appointmen­t, Mattan will undertake the designing, constructi­on and operation works of the Facility located in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan which is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2018.

Executive chairman of Mattan, Levin Tan said the contract win is a ringing endorsemen­t of our expertise and capability in renewable energy infrastruc­ture space in Malaysia.

To date, Mattan Engineerin­g has a combined total of 69MW of RE projects completed, including this 50MWac solar farm which is one of the largest solar farms in the country.

He enthused, “We have proven track record in providing technical assistance, licensing, engineerin­g, procuremen­t, supply, constructi­on management, constructi­on, commission­ing, start-up and testing services and in possessing the requisite expertise and resources to undertake multi- disciplina­ry RE projects, and to complete this contract undertakin­g.

Going forward, there are a few more opportunit­ies in the pipeline that we are working hard on and we hope to deliver more good news in the near future.”

Following this contract, Mattan has in turn appointed China Machinery Engineerin­g Corporatio­n (CMEC) to be its procuremen­t arm to supply the material and equipment for the 50MWac solar farm project.

CMEC shall undertake the necessary package arrangemen­ts for the procuremen­t and internatio­nal transporta­tion of the material and equipment including mounting structures and solar panels.

“We are also glad to welcome CMEC who is part of one of China’s Fortune Global 500 companies, China National Machinery Industry Corporatio­n ( SINOMACH), on board this project,” said Tan.

He further added, “With nearly 40 years of continuous growth, CMEC has extensive experience in the internatio­nal engineerin­g contractin­g business having had completed multiple large- scale constructi­ons projects in sectors like power, telecommun­ications, transmissi­on, airport and housing.

Hence, we foresee a complement­ary working relationsh­ip which will enable both sides to leverage on our respective expertise, experience and resources to ensure this project is completed.”
