Parents urged not to leave teaching solely to teachers

-

MIRI: The sacrifice and patience shown by kindergarten teachers should be appreciated, but the responsibility should be shared by the parents.

“Imagine the enormous challenges teachers face in educating our children. Leaving the responsibility to educate them solely to the teachers is not something parents should do. When the kids are back home, the education and guidance should continue,” said Councillor Aries Leong, representing Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting at Brilliant Kindergarten’s graduation ceremony at Pustaka Miri recently.

Leong added that teachers invest much time and effort in teaching the children.

“On the fi rst day of school, not only the children but parents too feel anxious; but at the end of kindergarten, their teachers feel relieved, sad and proud to see them go.

“I hope parents will not leave the teaching solely to teachers as it is parents’ responsibility to assist in their children’s development,” he reiterated.

Kindergarten principal Chai Kim Kui said teachers have the welfare of the children on their mind and want them to learn while in kindergarten. The interests and creativity nurtured would jump start their academic progress, leading them in the right direction.

“It is our collective responsibility to guide the children to be future leaders and prepare them for challenges after kindergarten.

“I’m proud of these children and, as they move to their respective primary schools next year, I hope they will be brave and face the future with much confidence,” she said.
