‘Devt projects in Sg Peking will kick off’

MARUDI: The residents of Sungai Peking in Tinjar are assured of developmen­t coming their way.

However, the implementa­tion works may take a while as they involve high costs, says Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil.

“We have our own plans to repair and upgrade the roads here – we’re just waiting for the implementa­tion part.

“I have advised all the ‘ Tuai Rumah’ ( longhouse chieftains) and their folk across Sungai Peking to work together for the sake of all,” he spoke at the ‘ Meet the People’ session and a dialogue at Rumah Mathias Depa in Sungai Tapang Ragai in Tinjar last weekend.

“Think first before you post anything on social media.

“Don’t be easily influenced by what you see and read on social media — be reasonable.

To the educated individual­s, come back to your longhouses and educate your fellow villagers on how to apply for and gain benefit from the ( developmen­t) projects; instead of voicing everything out on social media,” he said.

He also pointed out that in one and a half years being the elected representa­tive for the people here, he had seen many developmen­ts projects coming in such as the Marudi Waterfront, the retaining wall project, the Marudi-Miri Road and the water supply project in Beluru and other areas.

After the session, Penguang presented minor rural project ( MRP) allocation­s of RM35,000 to the village security and developmen­t committee (JKKK) of Rumah Mathias Depa and RM20,000 to JKKK Rumah Jilan, Sungai Sebatu.

Penguang’s wife Datin Monica Ukong also handed over some contributi­on from Associatio­n of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) to an individual with special needs at Rumah Mathias.

Present were Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Alexander Asing, MDM Chairman, Edward Mendai, SAO Marliney of Beluru District Office, JKR Representa­tive, Sabastian Merani and Local Community Leaders.
