BCCK unveils special Isthmus Christmas holiday feast

KUCHING: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) has unveiled its Isthmus Christmas holiday feast.

Planning and getting the preferred date for that customary year- end get-together or an intimate dinner-for-two is now a breeze with just a few mouse clicks on BCCK’s dining reservatio­n website www.bcck.org.my.

Out to tempt a slew of taste buds, this year’s Yuletide offerings include a three- course festive set dinner from Dec 15 to 30 (except Dec 24 and 25), as well as buffet dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

“Sous chef Asfia Rizal and his team are all prepped to satisfy holiday appetites from December 15 to 31 with BCCK’s Isthmus Christmas holiday feast.

“With the December holiday in plain view, tables at The Raintree Restaurant are going fast simply because it is so easy to secure the bookings online. Tables are limited, so don’t miss the chance to savour our fabulous Christmas treats,” said BCCK chief executive officer Eric van Piggelen.

The three- course set dinner offers both omnivore and vegetarian options at RM68.00 nett per adult or child.

For appetiser, take the road less travelled with crabmeat gazpacho – a chilled soup of crab meat salad with fresh green apple, pickled red cabbage and tomato, or go with a classic Caesar salad topped with turkey meat, or ask for that bowl of comforting creamy wild mushroom soup.

The main course is served either in the form of turkey, salmon or veggie. If you have a thing for poultry and herbs, go for the herb- crusted turkey roulade (turkey rolls served with potato au gratin, Brussel sprouts, shimeji mushrooms, carrot butter and giblet pepper sauce).

BBQ- glazed baked salmon with Hollandais­e sauce (served with cauliflowe­r puree, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and carrot butter) makes for an excellent choice if fish is all that you have in mind.

Vegetarian­s can happily dig into the deliciousl­y creamy vegetarian lasagna with apple ginger sauce and not feel left out from the entire food affair.

The panna cotta ( Italian for ‘cooked cream’) courts all palates with coconut ice cream on cookie crust.

Foodies who relish generous spreads should not miss out on the very delectable buffet offerings, each at RM100 nett per adult and RM50 nett per child.

Here is a sneak peek into the must-haves from the buffet: seafood on ice with multiple condiments; stuffed boneless lamb leg with apricot and rosemary lamb jus; herb- crusted ballotine of chicken on sautéed mushrooms; tom yam-marinated whole turkey served with condiments, apple stuffing and giblet sauce; crispy oriental prawn balls with saffron aioli; stuffed duck breast with marmalade and baby onion; chicken saltimbocc­a; baked beef ribs with sweet shallot jus; grilled German bratwurst sausage; caramelise­d lamb shoulder, and more.

A luscious selection of appetisers, soups, hot dishes and desserts vie for equal attention and these include chilled gazpacho soup, poached salmon with purple cabbage relish, confit chicken, seafood chowder with leek and cheese croutons, orange mousse, pumpkin pie, Christmas log cakes, French pastries, chocolate fountain and more.

All dinners will be served from 6.30pm to 10pm during the above promotiona­l period.
